Advani’s assets up by Rs2.25 crore

BJP leader LK Advani's affidavit says his assets have risen from Rs1,30,42,443 in 2004 to Rs3,55,43,172  in 2009. It also says that there are no liabilities in his or his wife's name. In 2004, he had shown his liabilities at Rs5.54 lakh.

In terms of cash, Advani has become richer by Rs10,000.  While in 2004 he had Rs15,000 cash, in 2009 he is having Rs25,000 cash.

So far his bank deposits are concerned, they have increased from Rs23,47,443 in 2004 to Rs1,04,13,172 in 2009. But his investment in bonds, debentures and shares has nosedived from Rs80,000 to only Rs5,000. And his investment in instruments like NSC, LIC policies, and mutual funds has also come down to zero from Rs14,00,000 five years back.

So far his immovable properties are concerned, Advani has got three houses - a bungalow in Gandhinagar, one flat in Gurgaon and Delhi each. But the value of these properties which was Rs85,00,000 in 2004 has appreciated to be at Rs2,35,00,000 in 2009.

However, Advani has mentioned that he is a resident of 1835/16, Kasturbhai Block, Deendayal Bhavan, JP Chowk, Khanpur, Ahmedabad. The address is that of Gujarat BJP office.

In the column on details about criminal cases pending against him, Advani has stated that he had been discharged by the special judicial magistrate, Rae Bareli, UP, in the FIR No.198/92 of PS Ram Janambhoomi, district Faizabad. He has, however, added that due to subsequent order of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, fresh charges were framed against him on July 28, 2005. Currently, the case is pending trial before court no.9, CJM-cum-special judicial magistrate, Rae Bareli, UP.
