The formula clicked for Bollywood stars and netas don’t want to lag behind! With their blogs, many film personalities have won hearts of their fans and wily politicians are leaving no stone unturned to trap young netizens with ‘mouse’ in their hands.

Social networking media, such as blogs, Orkut, Facebook and Twitter, are buzzing with discussions on current election topics.

Besides raising the time-tested ‘Inquilab-Zindabad’ on city roads, the netas in the race for the MP’s kursi, are double-clicking on social networking sites to spread their policies and propaganda in the cyber world, as they firmly believe that it would help them reach a big reservoir of net-savvy voters.

Election agenda, poll promises, analysis, election jingles and party advertisements have covered internet space as parties and candidates are trying to woo voters through the new age media campaigns.

The Congress and the BJP have taken full advantage of the ‘Jai Ho’ song of the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. However, it is highly criticised by Indian netizens. A post on Twitter says, “Congress and BJP both have lost their credibility by using ‘Jay Ho’ in their campaigns. By using this song in election campaigns, they are insulting the song. I wonder why AR Rehman is not opposing it!”

One of the posts on Orkut reads, “Some of the campaigns are amateur, un-professional and funny. On the first glance, you can say it’s designed by a Class IX student. The Congress’ website is more professional and seems rational too. There is one Sikh, there is one woman, and there is one young guy. They have tried to capture a wide spectrum of Indian citizens.”

A blogger has commented on Varun Gandhi’s controversial speech by posting, “The BJP does not have any young candidate. LK Advani wants to project a young leader in Varun Gandhi, but Varun’s speech turned things sour. I really pity on BJP..lol.”
