The judge hearing the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which former union minister and Congress leader Jagdish Tytler was accused of being involved before he got a clean chit from the CBI on Thursday said he was not afraid of anyone.

"I am not afraid of anyone. On the last date of hearing, I was on leave. There was a talk that I went on leave to avoid hearing the case. In fact, I was planning to go on further leave, but now I want to state that I have cancelled my plan(of leave) to hear the case," additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) Rakesh Pandit said.

The judge's remarks invited an immediate reaction from senior counsel H S Phoolka, appearing for Delhi Sikh Gurudwara
Management Committee, who said that he had full faith on him.

Earlier on March 28, the judge was on leave as a result of which the CBI had to file the final investigation report in the matter in the court of link metropolitan magistrate.

During the last date of hearing, CBI counsel Sanjay Kumar and Phoolka were involved in heated arguments with regard to the fixing of dates.

The CBI wanted to put the matter after April 20 while Phoolka insisted for fixing it on April two which was, however, accepted by the court.

The ACMM, who posted the matter for further hearing for April nine, is likely to decide whether to accept the CBI plea to cancel the FIR against Tytler or order re-investigation or further investigation into the matter by rejecting the closure report.
