Soumya's case: Accused refuses to face identification parade

In a set back to Delhi Police, an accused on Tuesday refused to undergo the Test Identification Parade (TIP) before a court here in connection with the murder of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan saying there is no need for this.
   
Ajay Kumar, whose judicial custody was extended by five days by additional chief metropolitan magistrate Kiran Bansal in the case, did not give his consent to appear for TIP alleging he has already been photographed and video-graphed during the custody and there is no need for the parade.

The refusal to face TIP would deprive the police an opportunity to establish the identity of the accused as real culprits in Soumya murder earlier termed by Delhi Police as a "blind case" with not much evidence.
    
Besides Ajay, three other co-accused, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Kumar Shukla and Baljit Malik, have been arrested for allegedly killing Soumya who was working with Headlines Today news channel.
    
The three accused, who were first arrested in connection with the murder case of call centre employee Jigisha Ghosh, have already refused to undergo the TIP.

Meanwhile, a relative of accused Ravi Kapoor has recorded his statement as a witness before Metropolitan Magistrate Ravinder Singh under section 164 of the CrPC, which could be treated as credible evidence against the accused.
    
Soumya was found shot dead in her car on September 30 last year while returning home from office at  around 3:30 am.
