Boy slaps teacher, parents arrested

Parents of a standard nine student in Zarekathi, about 92 kms from here, were arrested on Thursday for instigating their son to slap his teacher in front of the school's headmaster and other staff members, police said.

Parents of Manoj Fulmali neither prevented their son from slapping his teacher, nor did they apologise for the act, police said.

Manoj had supposedly made some obscene comments about girl students in his class for which he was asked to bring his parents to school on Wednesday by his teacher Shailaja Anap, they said.

He supposedly got angry with Anap for complaining to his parents about his behaviour and slapped her, they said.

Anap registered a complaint with the police after which Manoj's parents were arrested.
