Taking on prime minister Manmohan Singh for his attack on Lal Krishna Advani, BJP on Wednesday, said the "combative mood" of Singh seemed to originate from his "frustration" and to prove that he was "around".

"The combative mood of Manmohan Singh seems to be an effort to prove 'main bhi hoo na'... I am there too... is what prime minister trying to say," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here on Wednesday.

"He is a non-political person. He could be observing that people are lining up in front of Sonia Gandhi, Pranab Mukherjee and my dear neighbour Ahmed Patel's residence and none are coming to him," he quipped.

"He also seems frustrated of allies leaving Congress one after another," Prasad said.

The saffron party claimed that the election would be fought on what UPA has done in the last five years and would be a comment on the five year's rule of Manmohan Singh government.

Ducking a question on whether LK Advani could apologise for the Gujarat carnage, if voted to power, Prasad said, "The pertinent question today is that why did the Reserve Bank governor during the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 chose to keep silent on it till he became the prime minister?"
