Police on Monday, said the 28-year-old call-centre employee, who was found murdered in adjoining Faridabad, was smothered to death and the motive behind the crime appeared to be robbery.

A senior police official said the victim, Jigisha Ghosh, was not sexually assaulted and no visible weapon injuries were found on her body.

"The preliminary post-mortem report suggests that Ghosh was smothered to death. There was no sexual assault. There were no weapon injuries," deputy commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal said.

He said police were awaiting the final post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of the call-centre employee's death.

Dhaliwal noted that the motive behind the crime appeared to be robbery as her mobile phones, ATM and credit cards were missing.

The attacker or attackers have used Ghosh's ATM card to withdraw Rs 77,000 from the SBI ATM in Mahipalpur besides using the credit card to buy expensive googles, wrist watches and shoes from Sarojini Nagar market, he said.

Police sources said they were checking the CCTV footages of the market and the ATM to identify the attackers.

Some investigators were also been sent to various parts of Haryana to get leads in the case, sources said.

Ghosh was missing since Tuesday from the national capital and her body was found in Faridabad two days later.

Police are also trying to trace the call records of her mobile, which they believe will help in the probe into her death.

Ghosh, a resident of south Delhi's Vasant Vihar had left her home for office in Noida on Tuesday but did not return home till late night next day.

She had told her parents that she would return by 3 to 4 am next day morning.

Her father JZ Narayan approached the police and lodged a kidnapping case in this regard on March 19.

The deceased, Sagrika, was the only daughter of her parents. She used to work with a call centre in Noida sector 126 and had been living along with her parents.

Her father JZ Narayan is a retired government official.
