A former star and Indo-Canadian MP, Ruby Dhalla is involved in a raging controversy here for trying to block DVD sales of Bollywood-style movie, she co-starred in before becoming a lawmaker in 2004.

Dhalla, 35, ire against her role in a low budget film is that the movie's publicity material, including posters and photos show her dressed in flimsy and revealing clothes.

The lawmaker who represents Brampton-Springdale claims these were morphed - putting her face on someone else's body, Toronto Sun quoted her as saying.

"We've never seen a copy of the film," she said adding that "They are misrepresenting me… they put my face on someone else's body in clothes I never wore."

The 2003 Hindi film called 'Kyon Kis Liye' which was shot in in Hamilton is based on the local Sukhinder Dhillon murder case, in which the wife was poisoned by her husband to collect insurance money.

In the film, Dhalla had been shown in some steamy scenes with the film's producer and co-star Charanjit Sihra. The film has already been shown in Toronto and India.
