40 inmates pass Gandhian thought examination

These 40 inmates undergoing imprisonment under various crimes have expressed their desire to give Gandhian Thought examinations with the Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal.

It is mostly the violent act that puts one behind the bars but repentance can dilute it and it seems true for the inmates of the Paithan Open jail where 40 inmates have recently passed the examination of Gandhian Thought.

The preacher of non-violence, Mahatma Gandhi devoted his life for disseminating the non-violence and he proved that it as an effective weapon.

Years after his departure his thoughts are seen prevailing in the society and also in the prisons where many of the inmates are undergoing imprisonment as a result of violent anger that lasts only for a fraction of seconds.

According to the director of the study centre Sriram Jadhav, these 40 inmates undergoing imprisonment under various crimes have expressed their desire to give Gandhian Thought examinations with the Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal.

In last week of February their examinations were onducted by the Mahatma Gandhi study centre of the Deogiri college. Books written by Mahatma Gandhi and that on his thoughts were made available to the inmates.

They studied these books and gave the examinations. Superintendent of the Jail BB Autade and jail officer SS Kamble also took efforts for conducting the examinations successfully.
