The International Cricket Council has postponed the launch of the World Cup 2011 event logo, it is learnt.
According to Dubai-based sources, the new logo for the World Cup was to be launched in India on March 26, but the recent terror attacks in Lahore on the Sri Lankan team has resulted in the launching ceremony getting postponed.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking BCCI’s help to retain the co-hosting rights of the event. However some nations may express their concern. “The World Cup is still two years away and we have another six weeks’ time to represent our case before the ICC board members in the meeting (scheduled to take place on 17th and 18th April)”, Salim Altaf, CEO of PCB, said from Lahore.
“The ICC can take away our hosting rights in the board meeting. We are seeking support from Sharad Pawar, the president of the World Cup organising committee,” he said.
