Fifty huts gutted

At least 50 families were rendered homeless when a  major fire engulfed their huts at Daula Talarampur village in Malda district on Wednesday night.

Chanchol sub divisional officer Debjani Dutta said the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

Although no loss of lives were reported, four cattle heads were charred.

Fire tenders went to the village from Chanchol, 20 km away, and doused the flames.

Relief was given to the affected families, the SDO said.
