BJP attempts to woo Dalit voters

Even if the Dalit couples flock the BJP venue with marriage on their minds, the saffron brigade will help them say 'I do' with hustings in sight.

The schedule caste cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is organizing a mass marriage for the schedule caste youths on March 1 in the city. A total 166 couples will tie the knot in the function which aims to solemnize the weddings in an inexpensive and simple manner.

Giving details about the marriage, Atmaram Parmar, president of the SC cell, said, "We have earlier organised marriage for 151 couples, but seeing the huge response we have added 15 more couples and cumulatively this time 166 couples will take part in mass marriage."

The party's state president Purushottam Rupala, and the national president of the SC cell, Satyanarayan Jatia, will be present on the occasion among a host of other leaders, Parmar said.

Parrying a question whether it was a politically designed occasion, Parmar replied that the party is organizing such a community marriage for the first time to serve the society and it wasn't "proper to join the mass marriage function with politics".
