Youth's body recovered, protests in Srinagar

Several parts of Srinagar on Tuesday witnessed protests and shutdown following the recovery of a youth's body from Parimpora area of the city, official sources said.

Several parts of Srinagar on Tuesday witnessed protests and shutdown following the recovery of a youth's body from Parimpora area of the city, official sources said here.

Police recovered the body of Shabir Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Maisuma, from Shairefabad in Parimpora area in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday, official sources said here.  Shiekh, an auto-driver by profession, had not returned home last night and according to preliminary investigation, he was strangulated and his body did not have
any other marks. The body was later taken to police control room for post mortem, they said.

As soon as the news of recovery reached Maisuma area, a mob gathered and started raising slogans, demanding arrest of the culprits. Later, the mob went around the commercial hub of Lal Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Hari Singh High Street and other
adjoining areas, forcing a shut down, they said.
