The Queens Baton Relay (QBR) for the 2010 Commonwealth Games will pass all the 71 member nations covering a distance of 150,000 kms and is likely to enter India from Pakistan through the Wagah Border in June next year.

Jason Dwyer, an official of Australian event management company Maxxam International which had won the contract from the 2010 Commonwealth Games organising committee to manage the relay, said it will enter India on June 25, likely from the Indo-Pak border at Wagah near Amritsar and will be taken to all state capitals in the country.

"The QBR will enter India on June 25 and we are planning it does from Pakistan in Wagah. It is not final but the plan is that," Dwyer said during the Business Club of India's website launch aimed at promoting brand India by encashing on the Games.

"It will come to Wagah via Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka and from there to Pakistan via sea," he said.

Maxxam International had earlier organised QBR in Manchester (2002) and Melbourne (2006) Commonwealth Games besides the Sydney and Beijing Olympic Games torch relays.

Her Majesty, the Queen of United Kingdom, will present the baton to an Indian athlete at Buckingham Palace in London on the first week of November this year.

"The ceremony of baton hand-over will take place between November 2 and 6, we have to decide on that. The QBR will reach Delhi on October 3, the day of the Games' opening after 336 days of journey from London," Dwyer said.

"The international section will cover all the 71 member countries in 236 days covering a distance of 150,000 km. The QBR will be taken to all state capitals of India for 100 days before reaching Delhi," he added.

Melbourne Commonwealth Games Baton had travelled 180,000 km in 366 days covering all the 71 member countries.

The Delhi Games baton will cover 10 countries in Europe till December 8 before departing for Africa where it will remain till December 31 after visiting 18 countries.

The QBR will be in St Helena, Falkland Islands and the Caribbeans (15 countries) till April 6 next year. It will move to the Americas (six countries) and remain there till April 17 before travelling to the Oceania (14 countries) from where it will reach Asia (seven countries) on June 6.
