Martin Luther King III's visit to Ahmedabad on Friday will hold a lot of significance as it will be focussing on several issues, which include reviving a legacy.

Martin Luther King III is currently visiting India to trace 'India Pilgrimage' of his father, Martin Luther King Jr, 50 years ago. As a part of his visit, he will be visiting Gandhi Ashram and Gujarat Vidyapith.

Talking about the legacy, there will be two points to look at: to keep the legacy alive and its relevance today as the current generation hardly recognise people such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr for their achievements.

It's high time that they should be given more recognition than just a face on currency notes. His father being a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and he himself being influenced by the Gandhian thoughts would help us re-think on our own past that contains principles like non-violence, truth and courage.

Honestly, the lifestyle which we live in makes it easy for us to forget about our roots, about where we belong - our legacy. Martin Luther King III will be re-tracing the past and remembering his father's journey to India.  President Barack Obama, the man who is seen as living King Jr's dream, is also looking forward to peace and non-violence as the way forward for his country. During his visit to Gandhi Ashram, King III would have a dialogue with people here on King Jr's and Mahatma Gandhi's legacy. I will be participating in the panel discussion which will be taking place at Gandhi Ashram. The discussion would be on 'Gandhi & King; and their legacy today'.
