The state IAS officers’ association, which generally does not have the time to meet on account of the officers’ busy schedules, has found a way to overcome this problem. The association will launch a web portal and blog, which will act as a platform for senior, junior and retired IAS officers to be in contact with each other.

The association generally remains idle for most of the year and barely organises one or two get-togethers for the families of IAS officers to meet and socialise.

“The Gujarat state IAS officers’ association, which has around 260 members, rarely organises any programmes for officers and their families to meet. The web portal will enable them to remain in contact with each other, whether the officers are posted in the state or at the Centre,” a source close to the development said.

“The portal will host the IAS officers’ latest ideas, photographs, experiences, problems, success stories etc. It will also aid the IAS officers’ wives’ association, whose members will get a chance to express their views and write about their activities,” the source said. The wives’ association will launch its first community magazine, Spectrum, which will be available through the website.

Chief minister Narendra Modi is likely to launch the website at a special dinner for the association members organised by the state chief secretary on the second evening of the 5th annual Chintan Shibir being held at the circuit house in Gandhinagar. A source said the e-magazine was also likely to be launched at the same time.
