CBI arrests two SC employees; cash and gold in lakhs recovered

Three persons, including two Supreme Court employees, have been arrested by the CBI for allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe from a petitioner for early listing of his case.
    
The CBI received a complaint from a person alleging that C Perumal and K Badrinath working as clerk and assistant respectively in the office of Registrar of Supreme Court along with a middleman K M Singh were demanding bribe of Rs 75,000 for early listing of his case, official sources said.

After initial probe, the CBI registered a case and laid a trap late last night and arrested Perumal, Badrinath and Singh while accepting bribe of Rs 25,000 as first installment of the settled bribe amount, they said.
    
Immediately, after their arrest, the CBI conducted searches at their residence and claimed to have found Rs 1.67 lakh cash, gold worth Rs 6.25 lakh and documents of two bank accounts from the residence of Perumal, the sources said.
    
The three were produced before a court here on Tuesday who sent them to one day CBI custody.
    
The petitioner, whose wife died during a treatment, had filed a case of medical negligence against the doctors. He had lost the case in Delhi High Court following which he filed a Special Leave Petition at the Supreme Court for which he wanted an early hearing by the Court.
