A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of a suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist, accused of providing logistical support for the September 13 serial blasts by another 14 days.
A Delhi court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of a suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist, accused of providing logistical support for carrying out the September 13 serial blasts in the Capital, by another 14 days.
Mohammad Hakim, who had been arrested by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad on January 2, was produced before chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja, who remanded him to judicial custody till February 12.
The suspected terrorist, a final year student of a private engineering college at Lucknow who was also carrying a prize of Rs one lakh on his head, had allegedly provided logistical support to his co-accused in carrying out the September 13 serial blasts in the Capital, besides supplying explosives to them.
The accused, who was brought here on January 3 on transit remand, had allegedly supplied splinters and ball-bearings used in the bombs to maximise the casualties.
He was sent to 14 days' judicial custody in three cases registered in Karol Bagh, Greater Kailash I, Connaught Place police stations.
Hakim, who has allegedly disclosed complicity of accused Ariz, Shadab Beg and Asadulla in the blasts, is also wanted by the Maharashtra Police in connection with a case under the Arms Act and the Bombay Police Act.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police also secured the production warrant against Mohd Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Squib Nissar, Zia-ur-Rehman and Mohd Shakeel, who are under judicial custody, for February 2 on the ground that they wanted to arrest them in the blasts case registered with Connaught Place police station.
The Delhi Police had recently filed three chargesheets in the serial blasts that took place in Karol Bagh, Connaught Place and Greater Kailash I. Twentysix persons were killed and several others were injured in the serial blasts.
Meanwhile, the court also issued production warrant for other accused Mohd Sadiq Sheikh and Quamuddin Kapadia, alleged co-founder and member of IM respectively, for February 12.
