Parents of a missing boy threatened to immolate themselves in front of district collector office here on Tuesday if police and officials concerned do not help them finding their missing son who has been untraceable since September last.

Rukhmina and Manik Dattaram Gawhane, parents of the missing 15-year-old Sandeep Manikrao Gawhane, said that no one has shown interest in tracing out the young boy since he went missing.

Sandeep, who belongs to a poor family of village Rahati in Digras Tehsil of Yavatmal district, was a student of class IX of Digras based Bapurao Butley High School and used to stay in the government aided hostel attached to the school.

"Neither the school headmaster nor the superintendent of the hostel took pains to inform us about Sandeep since he went missing," they said.

"On September 5, I had been to the school to meet Sandeep but the school headmaster Jangale told me that my son has not come to the school on that day. Thereafter I went to the hostel and met the superintendent of the hostel Ravikant Parande, clerk Waghmare and security Bandu Chavan and inquired about my son but they gave elusive answers to me," said Gawhane.

When he approached police to lodge a complaint, they suggested him to search the boy in Mumbai or Pune, he said.

"It was the duty of the school and hostel authorities to inform us about the missing boy but they have so far not done so. We suspect something fishy about the missing of my son," Gawhane said.
