The transfer window of the Indian Premier League has finally closed and there were a few unexpected transfers. Jaydev Shah, Saurashtra captain, has been roped in by the Mumbai Indians. Shah comes to Mumbai from Rajasthan Royals.

The Jaipur team has also sold Pankaj Singh to Bangalore Royal Challengers (BRC), who — as reported by DNA — have also acquired Gaurav Dhiman from the Mumbai team.

The other notable movement during the transfer window was the acquisition of Ryan Harris by Deccan Chargers. The biggest transfer was of course was the Zaheer Khan-Robin Uthappa trade-off between MI and BRC.

The window, which opened on December 22, saw seven players being traded although 82 enquiries were made for 54 players. Of 54, 36 were enquiries were for Indian players and 18 for foreign players, IPL board said in a release on Friday.

Among the new acquisitions were David Warner (Delhi DareDevils), Andrew MacDonald (Delhi DareDevils) and Ryan Harris (Deccan Chargers). Kolkata Knight Riders have signed two of their “replacement” players - Ajantha Mendis and Brad Hodge — from 2008 on to longer term contracts. The Mumbai Indians also signed Dwayne Bravo, while the Chennai Super Kings inked a long term contract with Chamara Kapugedera.
The second players’ auction will be held in Goa on February 6.
