All eyes would be on the First Lady Michelle Obama on her design choices when she does up the White House, where she has shifted after her husband Barack Obama's swearing in as the 44th US president.

The first daunting task that Michelle faces in her capacity as First Lady is to make a home out of the gargantuan landmark that is the White House. Michelle would be expected to bring her characteristic sense of style to the president's residence.

From picking out state china to choosing the curtains for the private quarters, Michelle's taste would be under intense scrutiny from the media.

Her predecessors had taken these responsibilities seriously and Hillary Clinton had spent a good two years fine-tuning her design for china ware. But Michelle will have to be careful not to go overboard like Nancy Reagan who was slammed by the media for spending almost USD 1 million on the project.

One First Lady who took keen interest in decorating the historical building was Jacquelyn Kennedy, who re-decorated the White House with the help of Stephane Boudin of the House of Jansen, a Paris interior-design firm.

Jackie, who was known for her impeccable and expensive tastes, decorated the interiors with antiques and paintings collected from museums all over the world.

It is still to be seen whether Michelle has any plans to overhaul the interiors of the iconic structure. However, being the first family of the world's only superpower comes with it's own perks.
