An official trip to Mumbai cost Nadeem Kolthakar, 28, dearly as he landed straight into the police lock-up on Sunday evening. He was arrested for allegedly killing one and injuring two others in a case of drunken and rash driving by the RAK Marg police station. 

Kolhatkar, a resident of Dapoli, Ratnagiri drove his Scorpio in an inebriated state and collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction at around 6 pm in Sewri.

The rider, Shankar Deore, 58, a porter working at the Bombay Port Trust was killed on the spot.

Kolhatkar, who indulged in rash and negligent driving, also rammed into another motorbike and a half a dozen motorcycles and a car parked alongside the road.
Dhanesh, who was riding the two-wheeler suffered serious injuries.

Kolthakar had come to Mumbai for his official work. He works as a driver in a Dabhol-based company. His colleague, Jagdish Mehta, who works as a security guard was also injured in the accident.
