Bihar govt to pay upto Rs 5 lakh to informers: Nitish

The state government has decided to award the informers from Rs 1,000 to Rs five lakh depending upon nature of severity of corruption cases.

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said, on Wednesday, that the state government was committed to curb the corruption at all levels for which the state government has decided to award people who helped the government in bringing corrupt officials to the book.

The state government has decided to award the informers from Rs 1,000 to Rs five lakh depending upon nature of severity of corruption cases, Kumar said while inaugurating the Rs 45 crore Kundghat reservoir project and several schemes totalling Rs 340 crore at Sikandra in Bihar's Jamui district.

The chief minister said that though Bihar was a poor state but still his government agreed to implement the recommendations of 6th pay panel for which the state was making efforts to arrange the money which the state would incur on paying salary, pension and other dues.

Kumar said that the rule of law has been established in the state which was evident from the fact that more than 25,000 accused have been convicted due to speedy trial.

The government planned to spend Rs 13,500 crore on development schemes as against Rs 10,500 crore during the last year, he disclosed.

The chief minister also inaugurated Rs 231.36 crore project at Suryagarha block in Bihar's Lakhisarai district.
