PUDUCHERRY: A French couple have arrived in Puducherry in a bid to trace their 26-year-old son who has been missing since the last one year.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, the parents-- Pierre Talleu and Marie Claire Talleu -- said their son Jean Baptiste Talleu had embarked on a global tour on his bicycle from France on July 18 last year.
Pierre Talleu is an officer in the French court at Nancy while his wife is a social worker there.
Marie Claire said her son had come to Mumbai on December 5, 2007 and his visit to India was part of his global tour. The adventure savvy youth wanted to spend winter in India and wanted to leave later for China to see his sister Marie there.
They had proof that he visited East Goregaon in Mumbai as he had withdrawn money from the ATM counter of a private Bank on December 5 last year. Nothing was heard of him since then, the parents said.
Marie Claire said that they had come to Puducherry as they felt that Jean could have come here while being in India. The parents had also lodged complaint with the police in Mumbai and had also informed the French authorities in India about their son's disappearance.
The parents, who arrived in November, said they would be here till the month end.
