Fake I-card found on Oberoi terrorist

The crime branch has recovered a fake identity card of a non-existent college from one of the terrorists killed by commandos of the National Security Guards (NSG) at Hotel Oberoi in Nariman Point. The terrorist, found dead outside room no 1880 on the 18th floor, was aged between 20 and 25, sources said.

The card shows his name as Rohit Deepak Patil of Arunodaya Degree & PG College, Hyderabad. His residential is given as 313, SK Apartment, Indira Nagar, Vijaya Nagar Colony, Hyderabad, the sources said. The Hyderabad police found no such college or apartment in their city, they said. He may have used a fake Maharashtrian name in the card to get past police nakabandis without being questioning, the sources said.

The terrorist was without the ring and middle fingers in his right hand. It could be a birth defect or he may have lost it during the training in an Let camp, they said.

The police also recovered three Rs1,000 notes, five notes of Rs100 denomination, a Nokia cellphone with a Vodafone Sim card, an AK-47 assault rifle, a blade, a knife and a pistol from him.
