Police pick up Doda employee

SRINAGAR: Jammu Police have picked up a government employee from Doda for questioning in connection with the fidayeen attack on Mumbai.

Showkat, a junior assistant in the municipal committee, was picked up on Saturday evening after a post-attack call from Mumbai was traced to him. Inspector general of police K Rajendra Kumar said the call was from Showkat’s brother-in-law, who works in Mumbai. “We have neither detained, nor arrested him. His questioning has revealed nothing so far,” he said. Rajendra said the first cousin of Showkat’s wife was an active militant in Doda. Therefore, it was thought necessary to pick him up for questioning.
