NEW DELHI: Sensing the strong national sentiment for decisive action against terrorists, the ruling dispensation in the capital has promised to hunt them down.

“We will go beyond strong words. We are determined to hunt them down and crush them, no matter where they are,” Congress general secretary Veerappa Moily said on Friday. His views reflect the growing demand also within the Congress for strong action to retrieve the party’s falling political stock.

The ruling dispensation’s political managers believe the government can bury the bogey of being soft on terror by taking decisive.

Government sources even hinted that the proposal of the ISI and Pakistan army chiefs to visit Delhi could be a prelude to joint action.

“Let the current crisis be over, we will take the strongest action possible. Fighting terror is national priority, there can be no progress without security,” minister for science and technology Kapil Sibal said.

Senior Congress leaders as well as several senior ministers in the government are of the view that the “nation is now ready for whatever it takes to effectively take on terrorists”. The government is toying with several ideas, some of which involve going for a massive expansion of forces handling internal security, to setting up an ultramodern force dedicated to fighting terrorism.
