NEW DELHI: While protesting the invoking of MCOCA against Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and other accused in the Malegaon blast case, the BJP demanded on Sunday why the anti-terror law had not been used against those arrested in connection with the Delhi serial blasts.

Pointing out that MCOCA was extended to Delhi in 2002, party general secretary Arun Jaitley said the BJP wanted to ask the UPA government at the Centre why Delhi Police were not allowed to invoke provisions of the law against the accused in the Delhi serial blasts case of September.

Accusing the central government of applying double standards, Jaitley said: “Does the Congress-led government have a policy of invoking MCOCA on the basis of religion, not on the nature of offence?”

“We haven’t heard anything about the investigation into the Delhi serial bomb blasts. Where is the probe into the Jamia Nagar shootout headed?”

Delhi Police had shot dead two alleged terrorists at Batla House in Jamia Nagar after the blasts, for which Indian Mujahideen had claimed responsibility.
