VADODARA: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has deferred his foreign tour scheduled from November 16 to 25, official sources of the Gujarat Government said on Saturday.

Modi's programme of visiting South African countries Uganda and Kenya and Qatar in Middle-East is being revised, sources said.

The new dates of his tour will be announced later, they added.

Uagandan President Yoweri Museveni had extended an invitation to Modi during his visit to Gujarat in May 2007.

"Uganda offers good opportunity for investments. Modi's visit will help in establishing rapport with the large number of Gujaratis staying in Uganda," Uagandan Ambassador to India Nimisha Madhvani said last month.

Meanwhile, BJP sources said that Modi was compelled to postpone his plans of visiting these countries as he is required for the electioneering in the Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
