BHUBANESWAR: With five days to go for the test identification parade (TIP) of the accused in alleged nun rape case, the woman was yet to decide whether to come down to Orissa to attend the exercise.

"As the nun is unwilling to go to Kandhamal again after the terrible incident on August 25 and is still under treatment, we have not decided what to do," Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Diocese Archbishop Raphel Cheenath said.

Cheenath, whose petition seeking handing over of the rape case to CBI was turned down by the Supreme Court, said though the victim had agreed to assist the probe by the Crime Branch of Orissa police, she was not in a position to travel such a long distance.

Earlier on November 10, the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Baliguda in Kandhamal, had asked the nun to attend the TIP to be held there on November 19.

The court issued direction after giving nine days to her despite the nun's plea for one month period for attending the TIP. The court also remained silent on the nun's application on shifting the venue of the TIP from Kandhamal to Delhi.

"The court could not grant a month's time to the nun for the TIP as it was unable to take any decision on the bail applications made by eight of the 10 accused arrested in the case," Additional Public Prosecutor Loknath Dora said.

According to the APP, the accused including a father-son duo, were languishing in jail for over a month.

"I have spoken to the nun after the SDJM court asked her to attend the TIP on November 19. Though she is physically fit, her mental condition remains unchanged. She is yet to overcome the trauma", Manas Ranjan Singh, the nun's counsel said. He, however, did not elaborate the course of action during the proposed TIP on November 19.

"There are several options. We will exercise our option at the appropriate time", Singh said.

Voicing his opposition to the parade in Kandhamal, Father Joseph Kalathil, the Vicar-General at Bishop's house here said that everyone should understand that the nun did not feel secure in Kandhamal.

"Her visit to Kandhamal may again hurt her sentiment. She should not be forced to go to Kandhamal for the time being," he said.
