Foreign cricketers soak in the festive spirit

GURGAON: It was a party in which most of the invitees spent time trying to understand what Diwali is all about. Players from around the world gathered at a lounge bar that had been booked for the evening, showcasing the diversity of the Indian Cricket League (ICL) on the eve of the festival of lights.

That the celebrations continued till the wee hours of the morning was not much of a surprise because the cricketers seemed to be enjoying every bit of it, be it the conversations, the fare laid on the table, shaking a leg or just joking around.

New Zealand all-rounder Christ Harris and big-hitting South African Justin Kemp, both representing Hyderabad Heroes, were among those to make their presence felt in the party, soaking in the relaxed atmosphere and simultaneously getting a feel of the biggest festival of the country.

Players from across the teams graced the occasion but Lahore Badshahs’ Humayun Farhat and Imran Nazir were the only players present from their squad, the others deciding to stay back in their hotel rooms with their families.

The Pakistani duo too made itself comfortable, looking more interested in chatting with people around.

The ICL officials, consisting largely of former India cricketers were also there, including big names like Kapil Dev, Kiran More and Madan Lal.
