Helicopter trespasses into PM’s air space

NEW DELHI: A Pawan Hans helicopter strayed over prime minister Manmohan Singh’s house at 7 Race Course, the parliament and president house, sending the present security personnel into a tizzy on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Delhi airport sources, the helicopter breached the ‘No Fly Zone’ restriction while it was on its way back to Safdurjung airport.

At 2.15pm, the control tower in Delhi spotted the helicopter. “The pilot (identified as captain Handa) and the helicopter have been grounded as per the procedures,” said a senior DGCA official. The DGCA has initiated a probe into the pilot’s lapses.
The air space over the parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, North and South Block, the e minister’s official residence, Taj Mahal, Maurya Sheraton and Taj Palace hotels is restricted.
