HYDERABAD: The timing of hosting the Indian Cricket League (ICL) at a time when India are playing a Test series against Australia is not wrong, according to the former Australian Test cricketer and member of the Ahmedabad Rockets team, Jason Gillespie.

“There are several cricket fans in India and most of the ICL matches are played late in the evening which gives them enough opportunity to enjoy non-stop cricket… I don’t think this takes away their interest in the game,” the Ahmedabad Rockets’ fast bowler said.

“I have been getting positive reports back in Australia and from England about the ICL matches. People ask about this form of cricket and they also enquire about the ICL”, he said.

The 34-year-old may have been disappointed over Rockets’ loss on Sunday against the Delhi Giants but is hopeful about the team’s performance. The Rockets will be playing an important match on Tuesday against Chennai Superstars here before taking his team to Ahmedabad. “It will be our home match and we hope to perform better against our
supporters in Ahmedabad”, he added.
