MANGALORE: Some sketches and other incriminating documents seized from the four terror suspects arrested in Mangalore on Friday indicated that they had been planning a ‘BAM’ (blasts in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Mangalore) after the recent ‘BAD’ (Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi) blasts.

The joint operation involving the Mumbai Police, Karnataka Police, and the Karnataka anti-Naxal squad, captured four alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) activists with cash, CDs, explosives, jihadi literature, credits cards, and active mobile sets. In all, 11 people were picked up of whom four were placed under arrest. The rest were let off after questioning.

The four people arrested are said to be close associates of Roshan alias Riaz of Bhatkal, a fast-progressing port town in North Kanara, which has been in the grip of communal violence for several years now.

Police said the suspects had revealed that the terror modules had planned more attacks on some religious places in Bangalore, Mangalore, and Ahmedabad. This was to be followed by a serial attack on some key security installations. No date or time had been fixed for these attacks.

Inspector-general of police (southern range) AM Prasad said the fact that Rs11 lakh in cash was recovered from the four suspects indicated the deep pockets of the terrorist network.
