He wants to ask her in person why she killed his son

With the trial of the murder of Synergy Adlabs creative head, Neeraj Grover set to begin in a month’s time, Grover’s father, Amarnath Grover, 59, expressed a wish to speak to key accused, Maria Susairaj and “ask her why she killed his son”.

“Itna pal poske bada kiya (We brought Neeraj up with love and affection). I really want to ask Maria why she killed my son,” Grover told DNA in a telephonic conversation from Kanpur. Neeraj studied in Kanpur University till graduation and then moved to Delhi to complete his Masters in communications in Amity University.

On May 7, Neeraj was allegedly stabbed to death by navy officer, Emile Jerome, Maria’s boyfriend at her Malad residence. The duo is then believed to have cut his body into several pieces and disposed of it in the jungles of Manor. The crime branch has booked both Maria and Emile for conspiracy of murder and destruction of evidence.

When asked about the police theory of Jerome stabbing Neeraj and killing him, Grover said, “I cannot say much about this. But we believe that Neeraj was killed after he was sedated. He is a well-built, six-feet-tall man. This is our opinion. But what really happened that day, only God and Maria know,” said Amarnath.

In fact, the forensic reports in the chargesheet of the murder case of Grover shows that no sample collected by the police on the site of crime matches with the DNA profile of the alleged killer, Jerome. However, Maria’s blood traces were found on five articles seized from the house.

Did he speak about his lingering doubt about the case to the police? “I discussed this with the eight investigating officers of the case. But you know everyone has their own style of working,” he said.

Neeraj’s last rites were performed “without his body” as there could not have been further delay. Neeraj’s body parts are part of “muddemal” which will be produced in court as evidence.

Grover has recently written a letter to the principal judge of the City Civil and Sessions court to expedite the trial. “We are really old and it is difficult to travel from Kanpur to Mumbai.” The court where the trial will be conducted will be decided on October 16.
