JAMMU: BJP on Monday accused successive governments of Jammu and Kashmir of being instrumental in the decision to take away forest land from Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and held them responsible for the people's plight.

"Congress, PDP and NC were a party to the decision under which 800 kanals of land at Baltal was taken away from SASB. Their government in the state was responsible for the plight of people in the region. People should be watchful against these parties and their activities," Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ashok Khajuria said while addressing public rallies at Domana and Marh areas of Jammu district on Monday.

Khajuria asked the people to take note of the high-handed behaviour by the police and administration on people protesting peacefully, who had assembled on the call of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti for honouring the families of martyrs on September 20.

Another senior BJP leader D K Kotwal said moves are afoot to compromise national and Jammu's economic interests with the idea of opening cross-LoC trade.
