The Juhu police have detained 18 persons, including four auto-rickshaw drivers in connection with a woman’s murder. Her body was found in a gunny bag near PVR on September 13.

The deceased had ‘Reshma Raj’ a tattooed on her right arm.

According to senior inspector Deepak Katkade, the tattoo on the woman’s arm
suggested that she was linked to a person named Raj. “We questioned several persons in the area and the preliminary investigations suggest that she was either married to or was seeing ‘Raj’, who is an autorickshaw driver,” said Katkade.

“We have been questioning several persons by the name of ‘Raj’ to get vitals leads in the case,” he added. Police said the woman was most probably a resident of Vile Parle or adjacent area. The four auto-rickshaw drivers detained by the police are also named ‘Raj’.

“The persons we have detained are giving contradictory statements, which have been a major problem for us. However, we are positive that the case will be solved soon,” added Katkade. Cops had received information about her being a prostitute, however, this could not be ascertained.

Post-mortem reports said that the woman was killed five hours before her body was dumped near PVR cinema in Juhu. “There was no missing complaint lodged in any police station for her. “It seems that the killer was close to her,” said Katkade.
