NEW DELHI: A so-called Annual General Meeting of the IHF called by KPS Gill, who ceased to be its President as the  Federation's Executive Body stands suspended, "makes no sense", says Mohammad Aslam, the convenor of ad-hoc committee running the game's affairs in the country.

"It makes no sense because officially Gill is not an authority anymore. The IHF's executive body was suspended following a corruption scandal so it could be an illegal move on his part," Aslam said.

"I don't want to speak much as the matter is subjudice. Gill had asked for a relief in the matter but court had refused that and it is hearing his plea," he added.

Aslam felt a realisation that the IOA-appointed ad-hoc committee was doing a good job and Suresh Kalmadi was in touch with the state associations must have prompted such a move from Gill.

"Kalmadi will be calling various associations about future plans and issues related to the game and that would have made Gill anxious," he said.

In a show of defiance, Gill has called the AGM here on September 17. The agenda includes adoption of accounts of three financial years, appointment of an auditor, nomination of representatives to the IOA and pending legal cases and IOA's action against the IHF following the bribery scam involving its secretary general K Jothikumaran.

IHF has challenged the suspension in the Delhi High Court.
