Citi strengthens equity research team

As part of strengthening its coverage of Asian markets, Citigroup has expanded the equity research team with the hiring of 12 new analysts, the US banking giant said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: As part of strengthening its coverage of Asian markets, Citigroup has expanded the equity research team with the hiring of 12 new analysts, the US banking giant said in a statement.
    
Citi, which is led by India-born Vikram Pandit had recently hired new people, including Chua Hak Bin as head of Singapore Research and Suchart Techaposai as in-charge of Thailand Research
    
Chua Hak Bin had served as an economist at Citi earlier also.
    
Other recent appointments include that of Kevin Chang as head of regional technology hardware coverage, Simon Ho, who would head regional banks coverage, and Gerwin Ho as in charge of Regional Autos coverage.
    
"The Asian markets continue to be one of the fastest growing markets in the world, and we believe the best service we can offer our clients is an analytical framework that is rigorous and exacting, offering investment perspectives that emphasise clarity and candour," Head of Citi Investment Research Asia Pacific Adrian Faure said in a statement.
    
Adrian Faure who is based in Hong Kong said, "These appointments, combined with the strength of our existing Asian and Global research teams, will ensure that CIR continues to be recognised by our clients as clear market leaders in sell-side research."
    
"We continue to be committed to the region, and defending our footprint in Asia is a key part of our overall strategy for Citi," he added.
