KOLKATA: A woman was held by the Kolkata Police on Wednesday in connection with the hoax e-mail threat about serial bombings in the city.

"We have detained Sabitri Dandapath, 40, for interrogation. She used to maintain the register of the cyber café and worked as a domestic help at the owner's residence. We are interrogating her to get more information about the case," Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) Dilip Adak said.

The email sent to a television channel had threatened multiple bomb blasts in the city at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. On tracking the Internet protocol (IP) address of the email, the police came to know that it was sent from a cyber café in Salt Lake and the cyber cafe's owner was arrested.

Adak said after interrogation the police came to know that the owner of the cyber café did not send the hoax mail.

"A few yet unidentified people came to the cyber café and used the computer terminals there last evening. We are trying to find them," Adak said.
