NEW DELHI: Troubled by the recent “findings” in the Aarushi murder probe that the Talwar couple was not at home the night the teen was slaughtered, mother Nupur has accused the CBI and the media of defaming the family.

Furious over the allegations that the couple was out partying on the night their 14-year-old daughter was murdered in her room, Nupur said the news was a deliberate attempt to malign the family.

“We will file a complaint to the authorities and if the CBI is also playing a role, they too should stop,” Nupur said.

Though this is not the first time the couple has been accused of leaving Aarushi alone at home, the CBI is keeping its options open and claims it is probing all possible angles to solve the double murder mystery.

Aarushi was murdered on the intervening night of May 15-16 when she was alone and defenceless in her room. The Talwars initially blamed their domestic help Hemraj for the murder, but retracted the claim within 36 hours of the crime after police found Hemraj’s body on the terrace of their house.

Interestingly, both Hemraj and Aarushi were murdered in a similar fashion and with the same weapon.
