Amit Behl talks about playing a villain in Sharpe’s Peril, one of the most successful international TV series to date

Amit Behl has been chosen as the main villain in the British television series Sharpe’s Peril. The actor will be sharing screen presence with British actor Sean Bean in the international soap.

It all started with Amit receiving a call from John Howard, one of the reputed casting directors in the west. He was among the 350 actors worldwide competing for the role. But luck was by his side and he was selected.

Amit said, “I am definitely lucky to be chosen for the part. The show has been one of the most successful shows in the history of British television. Moreover, sharing screen space with a maverick like Sean Bean was really exciting.”

Amit is playing the main villain in the show. “I am playing an Anglo-Indian character in the show. His name is Barabbas Hakeswill. This has been really the experience of a lifetime.”

He does not want to reveal too much about his show.

“I am not supposed to reveal too much about the content. Nandana Sen is also working in the project,” he says.

How was the treatment from the crew? “There was no differentiation. I stayed in a five star hotel like others while shooting in Khajuraho.”

The next season will be shot in Argentina. “I am the only Indian actor who is also the part of the 16th series which will be shot in Argentina in 2009,” he says. What is the difference in working with a western production house compared to the standards here? “Well, I should not comment on it. Needless to say, there is a huge difference. They are much more professional in their approach and their work is very systematic,” he says.
