Six killed, four injured as car rams into tree

Police said the driver of the car in which 10 persons were travelling lost control of the vehicle after negotiating a narrow bridge and hit the tree.

MADURAI: Six persons were killed and four injured when the car in which they were travelling from
Pappankulam to Palayamkottai hit a roadside tree at Tuppakudi, 150 km from here late last night, police said.

Police said the driver of the car in which 10 persons were travelling lost control of the vehicle after negotiating a narrow bridge and hit the tree.

The occupants were thrown out in the impact of the collision, the sources said. The injured have been hospitalised.

The occupants were scrap dealers and were returning to Palayamkottai after participating in an auction of barrels at Pappankulam, police said.
