MANGALORE: In a suicide pact entered into by a family of a scientist, the scientist died while his wife is in a critical condition here, police said.
Dr Vijaykuamr Singh (46), a scientist with Abhaijean Biochemicals in Electronic City, Bangalore, his wife Savitha (43) and 16-year-old daughter Shruthi (16) consumed poison in their hotel room last night, police said.
However, Singh's 14-year-old son did not consume poison, they said.
On hearing screams by the family members, the hotel management rushed them to a hospital, where Singh died, and his wife is in a serious condition, police said.
Shruthi is stated to be out of danger.
Financial crisis drove the family to take this extreme step, police said.
Savitha is a teacher in a private school in Bangalore, police said.
