NEW DELHI: With reports alleging that Shivraj Patil's son used his father's clout to push his business interests, Opposition BJP on Saturday demanded that the Home Minister explain whether any rules have bent.

In a bid to push the Home Minister on to the backfoot, the party latched on to the media reports and asked Patil to explain whether his official residence was misused for family gains.

"We would like to know whether the rules of environment have been bent to favour a particular industrialist in whose project Patil's family has interest," party spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

He also sought to know whether the charge of land grab levelled against Patil's son by farmers of Latur was true and whether the rules of excise clearance have been bent by the Haryana Government in favour of a particular company.

"The BJP seeks categorical replies from the Home Minister as the nation deserves to know," Rudy added.

The BJP's poser came after reports alleged that Patil's son used his father's official address to push his business interests in Haryana and Maharashtra.
