Meenakshi Sethi allegedly grudged the expensive costumes given to co-actor Nimisha Vakharia in the show 'Teen Bahuraniyaan'
The on-screen jealousy and animosity between the bahus of ‘Teen Bahuraniyaan’ (Zee) seems to have spilled off-screen too. Apparently, actor Meenakshi Sethi, who plays Indira, was upset with the down-market costumes given to her. A source on the sets reveals, “Nimisha Vakharia (Kokila) is given rich outfits. This upset Meenakshi to a great extent, who had to make do with the simple ones.”
A production member (Playtime Creations) admitted to the rancour. He says on conditions of anonymity, “There is disparity in their costumes because their characters demand it. Indira plays a woman whose husband is not a successful man. So she is made to wear simple saris. On the other hand, Kokila is the daughter of a rich man. Hence, she is heavily dressed to suit her stature.”
Another source adds, “Meenakshi started having a lot of grievances against her costumes. So much so that she refused to shoot unless she was given a change in her look. Hence, a meeting with the costume designer was arranged, so that Meenakshi’s demands could be met. The designs were then changed to accommodate her requirements but the look remained the same.”
When contacted, Meenakshi stated, “It is true that I was not happy with some of the costumes given to me. They looked so tacky. Honestly, even my servants wouldn’t wear such saris. Plus, they are heavy with zari work. The zari edges would hurt my skin. My skin is sensitive and I feared breaking into a rash. So I refused to wear them. But I am still being given the same kind of saris.” However, Meenakshi denied being jealous of Nimisha. Nimisha too pleaded ignorance of such incidents on the sets.
