Man tries to suicide during divorce hearing

BURDWAN (WB): A frustrated man tried to commit suicide in packed courtroom by slitting his wrist while hearing on his divorce suit was underway.

Police said Taraknath Das of Bahula village near Andal was admitted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said he was bleeding profusely after slitting his wrist.

Police said the couple was never happy since Das married Antara Bandyopadhyay of Burnpur two years ago against the wishes of their parents.

Antara filed for divorce the following year.
