NEW DELHI: Even as the AICC has frowned upon the chorus of "Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister" from a section of leaders, including Arjun Singh, the Congress mouthpiece says that India sees in him a leader with a vision for the country and its people.

"Rahulji has set out to correct all that he perceives wrong in the party and given time, he is sure to succeed," the latest issue of 'Congress Sandesh' says in its editorial note.

Noting that Rahul is a "man of few words", the journal says that "he is honest and forthright and does not mince his words. His speeches convey his sincerity in leading the party in 21st century."

The Congress Sandesh has disapproved addressing the young leader as 'Yuvraj' and said Rahul's reaction that such words had no meaning for him in a democracy was absolutely true.

"People therefore should refrain from using these titles and dissuade those who address them as such," it says adding that Rahul is "not prone to sycophancy and has often reiterated his dislike for the same."

The journal, which has been prepared ahead of the Karnataka poll outcome which saw the defeat of Congress, claims that the manner in which Rahul is endearing himself to the downtrodden and backward masses of the country is causing "dismay" to leaders opposed to the Congress.

"They feel the erosion of their support base in favour of Congress. They wait for an opportunity, however insignificant, to show him in poor light," it says adding, "all his actions are sincere and not for showmanship as some have alluded."

The editorial has come at a time when there have been claims that the Rahul magic failed to work in Karanataka like in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh earlier.
