Friends in life, they unite in death too

CHENNAI: Two married women, who were allegedly lesbians, committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze at Santhanakadu, about 20 km from here, after their relationship came to light.
   
Christy Jayanthimalar (35) of Thiruvottiyur and Rukmani (35) of Tondiarpet were said to be close friends since their childhood, police said on Sunday.
   
Their friendship remained 'unaffected' even after their marriage.
   
The two set themselves on fire on Saturday after their relatives disapproved of their relationship and reprimanded them, police said.
    
Police recovered their charred bodies.
