Five killed, two injured as truck hits pick-up van

JALPAIGURI (WB): Five people were killed and two others injured when a truck hit a pick-up van in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Saturday, police sources said.
    
The pick-up van on way to Siliguri from Malbazar was packed with passengers and some persons were even hanging from it when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the side of the van on which the people were hanging at Washabari near Koddlabari, police sources said.
    
Five persons were killed on the spot while the two injured have been admitted to Malbazar sub-divisional hospital, they said.
    
Sources said the pick-up was packed with passengers as there were very few buses or public vehicles on the road as most of them have been requistioned by the district administration for tomorrow's panchayat poll in the district.
